Suwawa, News – The Regent of Bone Bolango, Ismet Mile, emphasized the importance of cross-sector synergy in anticipating potential hydrometeorological disasters that may occur at any time in Bone Bolango Regency. He conveyed this during the Integrated Hydrometeorological Disaster Emergency Preparedness Assembly, held at the Bone Bolango Police Headquarters yard on Wednesday (November 5, 2025).
Regent Ismet Mile stated that preparedness in facing disaster threats such as floods, landslides, and strong winds is not only the responsibility of the local government and security forces but also of all elements of society.
“Preparedness is the key. We must not be complacent in the face of potential hydrometeorological disasters. All parties — the local government, the TNI-Polri, BPBD, and the community — must work in synergy and act swiftly,” said Ismet Mile.
He explained that the extreme weather conditions that have begun to affect several regions in Indonesia serve as an early warning for all parties in Bone Bolango to strengthen the emergency response system. According to Ismet, the local government has mobilized the Rapid Response Team (TRC) and ensured that all disaster management equipment and logistics are in a state of readiness.
“We have learned from the experiences of previous years. Now, we should not only be reactive but also proactive by strengthening mitigation efforts and public education so that communities become more resilient to disasters,” he explained.
Regent Ismet also expressed hope that inter-agency coordination and communication would become more solid so that disaster management in Bone Bolango can be carried out more quickly, accurately, and efficiently.
“The safety of our residents is the top priority. Let us maintain the spirit of cooperation and preparedness so that Bone Bolango remains safe and resilient in facing any potential disaster,” he concluded.
Meanwhile, the Bone Bolango Police Chief, AKBP Supriantoro, stated that Indonesia is one of the countries most vulnerable to natural disasters, both hydrometeorological and geological in nature.
“This vulnerability is due to Indonesia’s geographical position at the convergence of three active tectonic plates — the Eurasian Plate, the Indo-Australian Plate, and the Pacific Plate,” said the Police Chief.
He added that in addition to tectonic factors, Indonesia’s location along the Pacific Ring of Fire also contributes to high volcanic and seismic activity. This condition is worsened by the tropical climate, which triggers heavy rainfall and extreme weather changes, often resulting in disasters such as floods, landslides, and droughts.
According to the Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency (BMKG), hydrometeorological disasters are natural disasters caused by meteorological (weather) and hydrological (water) factors, resulting from interactions between the atmosphere, water, and land, often influenced by climate change.
